Travel clinic appointment this afternoon. I almost didn’t even make an appointment because I was under the impression you just needed to have been vaccinated for hepatitis A, and I had been for Belize. Apparently there was more to it than that.
I got five (5) shots! Ick. And ouch! Needed a polio booster, typhoid was out-of-date, H1N1, influenza, and varicella, aka chicken pox. I’ve never had chicken pox and neither has Zack. If we did get it, we’d get really freaking sick, so he needs to get one too.
She also wrote me a prescription for a prophylactic antibiotic (read: traveler’s diarrhea) and a letter stating that it is medically necessary for me to carry ALL THESE FRICKING MEDICATIONS through customs—mostly because Concerta is a controlled substance, just to make sure I didn’t have problems with that.
Oh, also. She wants me to wear compression stockings while on the plane because one of my meds causes increased risk of blood clots. SEXY.
It’s good to be home though :)
